Booking Accommodation at Liberty Lodge

To book accommodation at Liberty Lodge please either send your request to fvf@libertylodge.co.fk or use the booking form at the bottom of this websites home page.

You will need to inform us of the dates you wish to be accommodated at the Lodge and if space is available, you will receive an email confirming your booking. Upon receipt of this email you may use the address of Liberty Lodge for the duration of your visit to the Falkland Islands which is Liberty Lodge, Rowlands Rise, Stanley.

The allocation of accommodation at Liberty Lodge is on a 'first come first served' basis. Please be aware that you would be sharing an en-suite bedroom if the Lodge is at full capacity and each room can sleep up to three guests, one of which will be in a sofa bed.

Bookings can only be made on an individual basis.

Information requested:

1. Dates you wish to book accommodation. It's never too early to book as Liberty Lodge is extremely popular.

2. The Ship/Unit you served in during the Falklands Conflict.

3. Are you an individual Veteran or a group?  If the latter, I will need to have all the names of your group and ask you to confirm that you are happy to be the Lead?

4. Once the dates have been agreed, I will send you a booking confirmation email. This will have all the information going forward, including how and when to book your MoD Sponsored Concessionary Flight, please note the flights can only be booked 6 months prior to your departure date.  Your accommodation booking will be provisional until you get a flight acknowledgement email from SAMA.

5. NOK and family members are welcome, although they will need to pay for a Concessionary fare flight, which at present is £1566 return, a Falklands Veteran's flight is £248 return.

6. We do not charge anyone for staying at Liberty Lodge, it is run purely on donations and sponsorship.

Flying to the Falkland Islands

Concessionary Flight Scheme

The MoD have kindly agreed to continue the Concessionary Flight Scheme which allows holders of the South Atlantic Medal 1982 to fly on the Falklands Airbridge. This makes travelling to the Falkland Islands more affordable for veterans.

Flights leave RAF Brize Norton late night on Sundays and Wednesdays via Ascension Island taking 18 hours with a 2 hour stop over.  The return flight departs the Falklands early on Tuesdays and Fridays landing in RAF Brize Norton the following morning.

Due to the very high winds there may be delays on the flights in either direction so a) do not book any flight knowing you HAVE to be back on time and b) keep an eye on the passenger information page at Brize Norton for up to date information

To apply for an MOD sponsored Concessionary flight contact SAMA82 who administer the flights:

PLEASE NOTE:

If you fly via the Concessionary Flight Scheme you will be notified approx. 1 week prior to your flight date, this is subject to change.

All  passengers travelling to and from the Falkland Islands must hold a valid passport with six months validity from their date of return.

A Falkland Islands tourist visa is not required for residents of the UK.

Concessionary ticket holders have a 20kg baggage allowance.

Parking is available in the long term car park at Brize Norton but has to be booked in advance through SAMA and is not guaranteed.  If you are lucky to secure parking at Brize ensure you inform the gate staff on arrival as they need to supply you with a permit.

Internet access via a phone card is available in Ascension Island but that card will only work on the Ascension Island (cannot be used in the Falkland Islands).

IMPORTANT: Photography is not allowed anywhere in Ascension Island airport or in RAF Mount Pleasant airport

For up to date information on concessionary flights please review the SAMA (82) concessionary flight information page
